Teen killed in Sunday shooting identified

The San Mateo County coroner's office has identified a 19-year-old who died in a Sunday night shooting in East Palo Alto as Kevin Guzman.

Mr. Guzman, who was an East Palo Alto resident, and an 18-year-old man were found shot in a parking lot at 1489 East Bayshore Road around 10:30 p.m., according to East Palo Alto police.

Mr. Guzman was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 18-year-old was taken to Stanford Hospital and is expected to survive his injuries, police said.

Detectives have not determined a motive for the shooting.

Witnesses are asked to contact East Palo Alto police by leaving a voicemail message or sending a text message to an anonymous tip line at (650) 409-6792. Those with information about the homicide can also send an anonymous email to epa@tipnow.org.
