Narcotics bust in East Palo Alto

Police arrested three men in East Palo Alto Thursday night in a search of a home that yielded a stash of cocaine and other illicit drugs as well as a large sum of cash.

The Police Department had received numerous complaints of drug dealing and violence stemming from 2544 Illinois St., and police, working with other law enforcement agencies, served a search warrant at the address Thursday night.

Eric Jones, 22, Milton Kaululaau, 31, and Anthony Boyd, 32, all of East Palo Alto, were arrested on suspicion of violations ranging from narcotics possession to parole violation.

Jones, who was arrested on suspicion of numerous narcotics and firearms violations, is the brother of a man who was fatally shot on the same block last month.

Jabari Banford, 23, was found lying on the sidewalk in the 2500 block of Illinois Street at about 8:45 p.m. on July 18. Banford was pronounced dead at the scene.

Kaululaau is suspected of being a felon in possession of ammunition and of committing narcotics violations, while police arrested Boyd on suspicion of parole violation.

The San Mateo County Narcotics Task Force, the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and the Drug Enforcement Administration assisted in serving the search warrant.
