More local prep football updates

Menlo-Atherton had enough offense but not enough defense and suffered a 27-14 non-league football loss on Saturday in Atherton. For the perennial power Wildcats, it was their third straight season-opening win over the Bears. See the game report on PA Online Sports.

Information below was submitted by Steve Clarence on the M-A game Saturday.

On a beautiful Saturday afternoon at Coach Parks field, the M-A Bears met Los Gatos in closely fought battle, but the Bears fell to Los Gatos 27 to 14.

The Cats struck first with a strong running game. The Bears answered with a balanced attack, including large gains from Taylor Mashack and Cameron Moody.

Quarterback Willy Fonua connected eight times to receiver Evan Perkins. In the second half speedster Dijonn Williams electrified the house with big gains including a touchdown reception.

M-A used a balance attack and was statically even with Los Gatos, but turnovers proved to be the difference.

M-A Varsity will meet San Francisco powerhouse St Ignatius under the lights of M-A on Friday, Sept. 16, at 7 p.m.
