Matt Pelesasa had experience with poor weather conditions and it came in handy for the Menlo College football team Saturday.
Pelesasa threw for a pair of touchdowns within a two minute span of the second quarter, providing all the offense the Oaks would need in a 13-0 victory over host Webber International in Lake Wales, Fla.
As a quarterback at College of San Mateo, Pelesasa faced the driving rain and wind in a Bulldogs' loss.
"It might have been a little worse then," Pelesasa said. "But at least I was able to get some revenge on the weather."
Webber International outgained Menlo, 244-61, i the nonconference battle but the Oaks stepped up big when they needed a stop.
Pelesasa found Daniel Stevenson for a 9-yard touchdown, giving Menlo a 6-0 lead with 3:43 left in the first half.
Oaks senior Steven Lopes ended the Warriors' next drive with an interception, returning it to the Webber 8-yard line with just over a minute left in the half. Pelesasa hooked up with Robert Adan on the next play to give Menlo its 13-0 edge.
Adan recorded his ninth touchdown reception of the season. Pelesasa was 7-of-16 for 39 yards.
The Oaks (5-1) play at Pacific Lutheran on Saturday at 1 p.m.
Meanwhile, in the comfort of its own gym, Menlo downed visiting UC Merced, 25-18, 25-14, 25-17, in a Cal Pac Conference contest Saturday night.
