Sheriff's Office looks for missing man

The San Mateo County Sheriff's Office is searching for a 25-year-old San Carlos man who was last seen more than two weeks ago.

Dereck Ohlsen this week was reported missing by his parents, who last saw him at home on Sept. 4 at about 8:30 p.m., sheriff's spokeswoman Rebecca Rosenblatt said.

Ohlsen was described as a "homebody," though in recent weeks he reportedly started taking long walks around San Mateo County, Rosenblatt said.

Before he disappeared, Ohlsen mentioned to his family that he wanted to walk to San Jose to visit his grandparents.

Ohlsen is about 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighs around 155 pounds. He has brown hair and blue eyes.

Anyone who might have information about his whereabouts is asked to contact San Mateo County Detective Ken Clayton at (650) 363-4050, or call San Mateo County communications at (650) 363-4911.
