Grab Bag Theater stages 'Babes in Arms'

 

The student-run youth theater group Grab Bag Theater will stage Rogers & Harts' "Babes in Arms" at 7 p.m. on three nights May 24, May 25 and June 1 and at 6:30 p.m. May 31st at the Veteran's Memorial Center Theater, 1455 Madison Ave. in Redwood City.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students and seniors, and can be purchased at the door or online.

Many students in the company come from Menlo Park and Atherton, says assistant producer Logan Walker. Among them:

Menlo Park: Maggie Asher, Charlie Campbell (technical crew), Erin Cox, Eliza Gutierrez-Dewar, Tonya Goltsev (playing Jennifer Owen, female lead), Will Hanley, Aliya Hasoon (co-director), Sarah Hoover (co-choreographer), Kendall Lee (technical crew), Marc LeGrand, Nina Lozinski (producer), Chloe Mauvais, Maddie Napel, (co-choreographer), Johnathan Piper (playing Valentine "Val" White, male lead), Myles Robinson (technical crew), Alex Thayer, Elissa Webb (technical director), Gillian Weisenfluh (costume director), and Henri Wood.

Atherton: Sophi Bock (stage manager), Eloise Walne and Matthew Schertler.

This group of high school students are very dedicated and very talented. The theatre group is entirely run by the students from acting, staging, directing, producing and fund raising. I have seen several of their past shows and they are great fun. I hope the community will turn out for a great show as well as to support the tremendous initiative of these students.
