Man ejected in solo crash on I-280

A solo vehicle crash ejected a male driver onto Interstate Highway 280 near Redwood City on Thursday afternoon (July 18), a California Highway Patrol officer said.

The accident was reported at 3:15 p.m. near Farm Hill Boulevard. Two lanes were closed and a Sig-alert was issued at 3:39 p.m. It was canceled at 4:07 p.m. and the lanes reopened.

CHP Officer Kevin Bartlett said the driver had been heading northbound but somehow lost control and ended up on the southbound side of the freeway.

He was ejected from the car and suffered major injuries and was taken to a hospital, Bartlett said.
