Grass fire 'knocked down' near Webb Ranch

Firefighters from San Mateo County and the Menlo Park Fire Protection District have "knocked down" a grass fire at 2720 Alpine Road, a location in the vicinity of the Webb Ranch fruit and vegetable stand near the Interstate 280 interchange.

Firefighters said at 11:42 a.m. that they are in the mop-up stage of the fire, first reported at 11:16 and involving between one and two acres of light grass.

The fire never threatened any structures, firefighters said.
