Tonight: Meeting on Laurel Street parking in Menlo Park

City examining whether to prohibit parking in bike lane

Nativity School will host a community meeting tonight (Oct. 3) at 6 p.m. to talk about the potential removal of parking in bike lanes along Laurel Street in Menlo Park.

Parents and bicyclists traveling near the school during drop-off and pick-up hours have raised safety concerns, both with keeping parking as it is and with eliminating the spaces within the bike lanes.

City staff said no decision has been made yet; the bicycle and transportation commissions would need to review any modifications and then the City Council would have the final say on implementation. Other bike lanes throughout Menlo Park will also be reviewed to see whether similar changes are warranted, according to staff.

The meeting will be held in the school's gymnasium; the school is located at 1250 Laurel St.
