Two incumbents file for Sequoia Healthcare District seats

Two candidates have filed so far to run in the Nov. 4 election for seats on the governing board of the Sequoia Healthcare District. The district has a five-member Board of Directors, and three seats are up for election.

The filing deadline is Friday, Aug. 8.

Incumbents Arthur J. Faro and John J. "Jack" Hickey have qualified as candidates.

Mr. Faro serves as the vice president of the district board. He is the retired CEO of Sequoia Hospital.

Mr. Hickey has long campaigned for the dissolution of the district. He is a retired research scientist and is affiliated with the Redwood City Fun After Fifty Club.

Incumbent Gerald "Jerry" Shefren, president of the board, and John McDowell have pulled papers but have not yet filed.
