Charles Jr. and Nancy Merrill, whose parents Charles and Phyllis were an early Atherton "power couple," stand beside the 1920 Winton squareface "V" on a 1922 journey to Independence Lake.

The photo is included in the Atherton history book "Under the Oaks" by Pamela Gullard and Nancy Lund.
