Pedestrian killed on Caltrain tracks south of Mountain View

 

A train struck and killed a pedestrian this afternoon on the Caltrain tracks just south of the Mountain View station, an agency spokeswoman said.

Mountain View police received the first call about the incident at about 4:30 p.m. south of the station at 600 W. Evelyn Ave.

Emergency responders are en route and the tracks are closed in both directions, said Caltrain spokeswoman Jayme Ackemann.

Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority buses are taking passengers between the Mountain View and Sunnyvale stations during the closure, Ackemann said.

Caltrain is holding other trains at nearby stations, including northbound 365, southbound 258 and southbound 156.
