Menlo Park council asks for notice of new city hires

The Menlo Park council decided it would rather not learn about new city hires -- even contractors -- long after the fact, and to that end, requested on Jan. 27 that City Manager Alex McIntyre now notify the council as hires are made.

The request comes after Mr. McIntyre made the controversial decision, without telling the council, to hire public relations consultant Malcolm Smith to create materials related to the downtown/El Camino Real specific plan and a ballot measure that sought to change it.
