Tuesday forum: Should Portola Valley traffic be monitored by surveillance cameras?

Should Portola Valley vehicle traffic be monitored by fixed license-plate-reading surveillance cameras operated by the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office, with the data stored at a regional office of the Department of Homeland Security?

The public is invited to two community forums on this question: Tuesday, Feb. 10, and Tuesday, March 10. Both take place at 7 p.m. in the Historic Schoolhouse at 765 Portola Road in Portola Valley.

The Town Council will be looking for community feedback in anticipation of a possible decision on whether to allow the cameras and what policies to adopt that would govern their use.
