Tonight: Menlo Park meeting on making rail crossings safer

 

Council members Rich Cline and Kirsten Keith will hold a rail subcommittee meeting Wednesday, March 18, to discuss making railroad crossings safer in light of the fatal accident at Ravenswood Avenue intersection on Feb. 23.

Topics on the agenda include near-term changes to the Ravenswood Avenue crossing to improve safety, and the scope of a design study of grade separation options at that location. In a grade separation, the road is separated from the rail line by elevating or lowering the roadway or the tracks.

The meeting starts at 6 p.m. in the council chambers at the Civic Center at 701 Laurel St. It will be streamed live online via the city's website.
