Train strikes, kills pedestrian

A pedestrian was struck and killed by a Caltrain in Sunnyvale on Sunday morning (March 29).

Train No. 426 was traveling south near Mary Avenue, which is close to the border with Mountain View, where it struck and killed a male pedestrian at 11:39 a.m., Caltrain officials said.

There were approximately 100 passengers on board the train at the time of the incident.

The train's route was terminated at Mountain View and Caltrain used a single track to go around the collision scene.

Caltrain spokeswoman Jayme Ackemann said this is Caltrain's 10th fatality of the year.
