Man, 34, killed in East Palo Alto shooting Saturday morning

An East Palo Alto resident died after being shot early Saturday morning, police said.

East Palo Alto police arrived at the 300 block of Wisteria Drive after a Shot Spotter gunfire activation and found a 34-year-old East Palo Alto resident lying in the street.

The victim was on his back and appeared to have sustained numerous gunshot wounds to his torso. He received emergency medical treatment but died at the scene.

The preliminary investigation revealed the victim was approached by an unknown person. The two men may have had a brief conversation before the person opened fire. The shooter fled the scene on foot. The shooter's identity and a motive for the killing is unknown.
