Menlo boys topple Gunn in battle of tennis titans

The Gunn boys tennis team won the first seven Central Coast Section team titles that were held, starting in 1972. The Menlo School boys have won the past six championships and will be shooting to tie the Titans' record streak next month.

While it's possible that the Knights' own streak could be snapped, it's unlikely that Gunn will be the team that accomplishes that feat.

That scenario was likely decided on Wednesday as Menlo handled host Gunn fairly easily, 6-1, in nonleague action. As dominant as the Titans (12-5) have been this season, the Knights (18-1) displayed why they are regarded as one of the nation's best programs.
