Pet of the Week is a standout

By now, you've likely heard of the Peninsula Humane Society's "Who's Your Daddy?" campaign. Through that program, PHS has DNA-tested a number of its smaller dogs to determine their make-up.

Turns out, the shelter has really interesting mixes, including Carmelo, this week's featured pet. His DNA sample determined he has some fox terrier, lhasa apso and cocker spaniel. PHS is calling him a Foxy Lhocker -- perhaps the only one around.

This 5-year-old, 12-pound sparkplug of a dog would benefit from continued obedience classes, yet he would do well with a first-time dog owner.

This one-of-a-kind pup needs a home. Do you need a Foxy Lhocker in your life?

Those interested in adopting Carmelo or another pet from the PHS Center of Compassion shelter can call 650-340-7022, or visit in person at 1450 Rollins Road in Burlingame.
