Icelandic ponies in Portola Valley for Sunday horse fair

Morning trail ride set for Saturday

Icelandic ponies and miniature horses will visit Portola Valley on Sunday, June 14, for the annual Celebration of the Horse fair. A trail ride is set for the day before.

The fair runs from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Town Center at 765 Portola Road. There will be children's activities and carriage rides around Town Center, according to the fair's sponsor, the Portola Valley Trails & Paths Committee.

Children can have their faces painted, listen to a horse's heartbeat, enjoy a petting zoo and practice roping.

There will be tables with information on local organizations, including the Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District.

Trail ride

The Portola Valley Trails & Paths Committee is inviting riders with their own horses to invite friends who have horses for a ride from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, July 13. Staging for this ride takes place at 9 a.m. in the meadow next to Spring Down Equestrian Center at 725 Portola Road, just south of Town Center.
