San Mateo County: Vets ID card now available

To make it easier for the approximately 33,000 military veterans living in San Mateo County to apply for and receive benefits, the county's Veterans Services Office started a program June 3 to provide them with ID cards.

The cards are free. Call (650) 802-6598 for an appointment. The office is located at 400 Harbor Blvd., Building B, in Belmont.

Benefits can include merchant discounts, healthcare coverage, education and training, employment assistance, housing and home loans.
