Portola Valley: Woodland School graduates 21

A total of 21 eighth-graders graduated June 12 from Woodland School in Portola Valley.

The graduates are Tobias Braun, Mia Brooks, Jasmine Cheek, Celia Fritsch, Xenia Gonikberg, Ignatius Hayer, Drake Jordan, Henry Mallon, Amaia Minkowski, Eva Nemirovsky, Danielle Ness, Maxelle Phillips, Conor Pierce, Jaime Ramirez, Samantha Ramos, Svetlana Richter, Cecile Smith, Delphine Tan, Charu Tiwari, Avani Tumuluri and Madison van der Linde.

The graduates will attend these schools: East Side College Preparatory, Everest Public High School, Kehillah Jewish High School, Menlo School, Notre Dame High School, The Nueva School, Pinewood School, Sacred Heart Preparatory, Ruth Asawa San Francisco School of the Arts, Summit Preparatory Charter High School, Woodside Priory and Woodside High School.

Commencement exercises were held June 12. Head of School John Ora welcomed parents, guests, and students.

Following remarks by valedictorian Charu Tiwari and salutatorian Amaia Minkowski, Mr. Ora presented special recognition awards and awarded diplomas to the class of 2015.

Among graduates cited for special recognition were: Madison van der Linde, Capstone Award for her exemplary work on a year-long interdisciplinary project of global significance; Jasmine Cheek, Citizenship Award; and Celia Fritsch, Sempervirens Award for effort, character and scholarship.

"In addition to being the largest eighth-grade class in the school's 34-year history, the class of 2015 represents an unprecedented diversity of individual talents and strengths," said Mr. Ora. "We wish them the very best and look forward to their next accomplishments."
