Tuesday talk: 'Concussions & Athletics' at Menlo Kiwanis Club

 

Scott Anderson, director of athletic training at Stanford University, will give a talk Tuesday, Aug. 11, on "Concussions & Athletics" at the meeting of the Kiwanis Club of Menlo Park.

The club meets each Tuesday from noon to 1:15 p.m. at the Allied Arts Guild, 75 Arbor Road in Menlo Park.

Among future talks at Kiwanis Club meetings are:

● Aug. 18: Brock Burrell, business outreach specialist for the organization, Downtown Streets Team, will talk about how his agency combats homelessness by collaborating with social service agencies, government agencies and the private sector.

● Aug. 25: Lucy Wicks, associate director of community relations at Stanford University, will give a talk on "The Planned Stanford Plaza at 500 El Camino Real" in Menlo Park.

On Saturday, Aug. 22, the club will host a fundraiser called "Summer Evening of Art, Wine & Music" at a private residence in Atherton. The event runs from 5 to 9 p.m. Tickets are $40. Proceeds from ticket sales and a percentage of art sales benefit local programs and organizations. Call (650) 324-1868 of go to this Facebook page to register.

Last year the Menlo Park Kiwanis Club gave $90,000 in support of community service projects and scholarships for Menlo-Atherton High School graduates.
