Atherton back on line

Atherton sent out an email message Tuesday morning just before 10 a.m. saying all the town office's phones and Internet services were not working. The town was back online by about 2 p.m.

The message said the outage does not affect emergency calls to 911 or the post office substation in town hall.

The message did not explain how Atherton was able to send out the message without phone or Internet service, but City Manager George Rodericks said later that he was able to send out the email message about the outage by using a Bluetooth connection to his computer with his phone.
