Saturday: Flight Night once again in Portola Valley

Portola Valley will hold its fifth annual "Flight Night," with demonstrations and displays of radio-controlled model aircraft, from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, at the Portola Valley Town Center, 765 Portola Road in Portola Valley.

The public is invited to this free event, which will include fixed-wing, helicopters and multi-copters aircraft. Some will have lights for after-dark flying, according to the event's sponsor, the Portola Valley Nature & Science Committee.

Participants can get instruction and practice on computer flight simulators. Materials will be on hand to build gliders, and there will be in-flight videos and opportunities to talk with pilots and learn about careers in science and technology.

Food will be available for purchase.
