More than 100 families attended a book giveaway at the Belle Haven Community Garden on Saturday, Oct. 10, hosted by the Rotary Club of Menlo Park and Facebook.

Thanks to the combined contributions of the two Menlo Park libraries (in the Civic Center and Belle Haven), the Rotary Club of Menlo Park, and community members, more than 2,000 books were gathered, according to Menlo Park Rotary Club president Michelle Tsui.

The event also had live music and food.

All of the books not given away will be brought to the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Peninsula, the Ravenswood School District, and East Palo Alto Academy High School.

“This is truly a community collaboration,” Ms. Tsui said. “It was especially great to see the children so excited about getting books.”
