Tueday: Menlo Park community meeting seeks comment on dog park

A meeting to gather public comment on where to locate a dog-run area in Nealon Park will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10, in the Cypress Room of the Arrillaga Family Recreation Center at 700 Alma St. in Menlo Park.

The city is asking the public whether the dog-run area should be moved from the park's softball field (used for dogs only from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Monday through Friday) to an open grassy field, which would be an enclosed dogs-only area.

The City Council has received at least six emails from people who say they use the grassy field and oppose moving the dog-run area there.

At the meeting, people will be invited to comment on options for the dog park locations and features, and a timeline for broader renovations to Nealon Park.

According to Cherise Brandell, community services director of Menlo Park, the plan includes replacing the natural grass and irrigation system in the sports field and renovating the playground at Nealon Park within the next two years.

For more information, see the city's web page for this event.
