Tennis: SHP's Choy, Menlo's Vielma advance in CCS singles tourney

 

Sacred Heart Prep sophomore Sara Choy opened defense of her singles title at the Central Coast Section Individual Tournament by posting a pair of straight-set wins on Monday at Bay Club Courtside in Los Gatos.

The top-seeded Choy opened with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Cate Liston of St. Francis and followed that with a 6-3, 6-1 triumph over Minvi Bui of Santa Teresa.

Choy, the Most Valuable Player in the WBAL Foothill Division this season, will face Menlo School freshman Ashley Vielma in the semifinals on Tuesday, Dec. 1 at noon.
