Tonight in Menlo Park: Get ready, Downton Abbey fans

Downton Abbey fans, ready yourselves.

A talk about England's Edwardian period, tailored to Downton Abbey fans and music lovers, is coming to Menlo Park.

The event will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 1, in the downstairs program room of the Menlo Park Library at 800 Alma St. in the Menlo Park Civic Center.

The event will feature a slideshow and audio examples, and is expected to cover the era's music, art, social history, technological innovations, events, and current perceptions of the time.

Dulais Rhys, a professional musician based in San Francisco, will give the presentation. He holds a bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees in music from the University of Wales and has studied at the Peabody Conservatory of Music in Baltimore, Maryland.
