Menlo School trio all set for next step of careers

Three Menlo School student-athletes -- Payton Mack, Nikky Price and Polly Finch -- will continue their studies and athletics after signing with NCAA Division I teams recently.

Mack, who signed with Gonzaga volleyball, has been a standout the past three seasons. The middle hitter boosted Menlo teams to a CIF NorCal title and two regional appearances, as well as three trips to Central Coast Section playoffs, including a championship in 2013. She posted 176 kills as a senior and finished with a lofty .350 hitting percentage. Mack also posted 67 blocks in 83 sets played. She is a two-time all-league first-team selection.

Price, who signed with William & Mary lacrosse, actually verbally committed as a junior. The midfielder and defender, posted 45 goals and 21 assists last season for league champion Menlo. She was third on the team with 33 ground balls and won 41 draws. Price was a first team all-league selection in 2015 and second-team pick in 2014.

Finch, a coxswain, will join a University of Texas crew team that ranked in the top 10 in the nation. Finch, who trains and competes with the Stanford Rowing Center, will be under the tutelage of Dave O'Neill, who coached the Cal women to two NCAA titles, before taking over at Texas last season. Finch took part in a week-long camp at Texas over the summer, during which she and the Longhorns proved to be a good match.
