Thursday: Public comment sought on draft zoning regulations for M-2 area in Menlo Park

The public is invited to comment on new draft zoning regulations for the M-2 industrial area east of U.S. 101 in Menlo Park.

A focus group meeting to receive that comment will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 14, at the Menlo Park Senior Center, 100 Terminal Ave.

On Jan. 7, the city released drafts of three new proposed zoning districts in the M-2 area. The three new districts are: Office (O), Life Sciences (LS) and Residential Mixed-Use (R-MU).

Each zoning district draft includes development regulations governing building size, height and the number of parking space. There are also design standards regarding the "look and feel of a building," the city said.

The proposed regulations include green and sustainable building provisions.

The city's General Plan Advisory Committee will hear comments made at the focus group meeting when the committee meets from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 28, at in the Oak Room of the Arrillaga Family Recreation Center at 700 Alma St. in the Menlo Park Civic Center.

Guidance from the committee will be considered in a future Planning Commission study session on the proposed zoning regulations.

For more information, go to the city's ConnectMenlo page, the city's name for its process to update the general plan, which governs future development in the city.
