Feb. 6: Author gives talk on 'Life and Times of Dennis Martin'

Bo Crane will talk about his book, "The Life and Times of Dennis Martin," at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 6, at the San Mateo County History Museum, 2200 Broadway in downtown Redwood City.

Mr. Martin arrived on the Peninsula in 1844 and helped initiate the lumber industry in the area and operated a shipping business in Redwood City. He also built the first St. Denis Church off Sand Hill Road.

During the 1850s, he lost his fortune because of legal and financial problems.

The program is free with the price of admission to the museum ($6 for adults, $4 for seniors and students).

Visit historysmc.org or call (650) 299-0104 for more information.
