Woodside man, 47, found dead in Jeep at bottom of embankment

 

Jeffrey Adan, 47, of Woodside was the man found dead in a Jeep Cherokee at the bottom of an embankment off Skyline Boulevard in Portola Valley on Thursday morning, Feb. 11, according to the San Mateo County Coroner's Office.

The California Highway Patrol responded to the scene at about 11 a.m. Thursday and reported that the driver had likely been dead for more than 24 hours.

A resident of the area near Skyline and Old La Honda Road reported that she found skid marks on Skyline that morning. She looked down the edge of the cliff and saw the vehicle, CHP Officer Art Montiel said.

CHP officers found the red Jeep 160 feet down the embankment. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene, Officer Montiel said.

It appears that Mr. Adan was headed north on Skyline sometime Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning when he lost control of the vehicle, veered across the road and down the embankment, Officer Montiel said.
