Tonight: Farewell party for Woodside Bakery & Cafe

The farewell party to note the closing of the Woodside Bakery & Cafe starts at 5:30 p.m. tonight (March 15). It will be first come, first served at a $20 buffet dinner, said Jan Sweyer who, with her brother Mark Sweyer, co-owns the restaurant at 3052 Woodside Road in Woodside.

The Sweyers said they were told late last year that they had to close the restaurant, and that another business was going to take over the space with the same business model: a bakery and cafe combination.

The Roberts family, which owns the complex that includes the cafe, initially set a deadline of Jan. 15 to vacate the premises, the Sweyers said, but later granted a two-month extension.

So sad. This is no way for the Roberts family to treat Mark and Jan who are life long locals to the community and created a wonderful community bakery and cafe.
