Menlo-Atherton Little League opens season

After two rain postponements opening was March 19

Atherton Mayor Elizabeth Lewis and Menlo Park Mayor Rich Cline helped the Menlo-Atherton Little League open its 2016 season at Burgess Park on March 19, after two postponements for rain, by throwing out first pitches.

The league has 510 players on 42 teams, along with 126 coaches, 65 youth umpires and many more volunteers this year, according to the league's website.

Retiring coaches and 12-year-old players in their last season in the league were recognized, before each team was introduced on the field. The youngest players did the traditional tunnel run before all in attendance sang "Take Me Out to the Ball Game."
