"Inside Anne's Closet," a fashion show, luncheon and benefit for the nonprofit Colon Cancer Alliance, will be held Wednesday, June 1, at the Rosewood Sand Hill hotel in Menlo Park.
The second annual event is a tribute to Anne Paye, a stylish woman from Woodside who lost her battle to colorectal cancer in 2013 at age 68.
Her son, John Paye of Menlo Park, a Stanford Hall of Fame quarterback and former San Francisco 49er, is chairing the fundraiser along with honorary chair Sarah Harbaugh, who lost her brother to the disease at 22. She is married to the University of Michigan's head football coach, Jim Harbaugh.
Local celebrities and sports figures will walk down the runway wearing the latest summer fashions from Bloomingdale's. Some of Anne Paye's classic clothing will be on display, and American designer Carmen Marc Valvo, a colon cancer survivor himself, will showcase his evening collection.
Event organizer Melissa Badger of Atherton says the goal is to top last year's numbers and raise at least $225,000 to promote screenings, research and awareness. Though it is the second most deadly form of cancer, the disease can be prevented in many cases, she said.
The program runs from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the hotel, located on Sand Hill Road near Interstate 280.
