Photography exhibit: Syria before the war

Menlo Park resident Frances Freyberg's photographs of historic monuments and daily life in Syria, taken during her travels in 2008, give a glimpse into the rich cultural heritage of the country before much of it was destroyed or damaged by war.

Her images are on display for the month of June at Portola Art Gallery, 75 Arbor Road (Allied Arts Guild), Menlo Park.

The gallery is open Monday through Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 pm.

An artist's reception will be held on Saturday, June 11, 1-4 p.m. Go to Portola Gallery.
