Police: East Palo Alto man dies from gunshot wounds

An East Palo Alto resident died Friday evening after police found him with apparent gunshot wounds, according to the East Palo Alto Police Department.

According to the police, East Palo Alto officers responded to a Shotspotter activation on the 2400 block of Illinois Street at about 10:05 p.m. Upon arriving at the scene, the officers discovered a 30-year-old male suffering from what appeared to be gunshot wounds.

Medics responded and tried to resuscitate him, but the injuries sustained were life-threatening and the victim died at the scene, police said.

Police and the San Mateo County coroner were not releasing the victim's name Sunday, pending notification of his family.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has information regarding what transpired is asked to contact Veronica Barries at 650-798-5952.
