The Dolly Rappaport Band will perform at the first of Portola Valley's 2016 summer evening free concerts on Thursday, June 16, on the grass at the Town Center, located at 765 Portola Road.
The band plays jazzy blues, with saxophone, vocals, piano, guitar, bass and light drums, according to the town's Cultural Arts Committee, which sponsors the concert series.
The concert, which is open to the public, runs from 6 to 8 p.m. The concert overlaps with the Thursday farmers' market, which runs from 2 to 6 p.m. in the nearby parking lot of the Historic Schoolhouse.
Two food trucks, Sam's Chowdermobile and The Waffle Roost, will be there and open between 5:30 and 8 p.m.
Picnics, including alcoholic beverages, are OK, as are chairs, children and well-behaved dogs, say organizers. Blankets and warm clothing are recommended.
The Cultural Arts Committee has scheduled two more Thursday concerts on the lawn: July 21, with the Keller Sisters & Band, and Aug. 18 with Will Russ Jr. and the Force of Will band.
