Police calls in Menlo Park, Woodside, West Menlo Park


This information is based on reports from the Menlo Park Police Department and the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office. Under the law, people charged with offenses are considered innocent unless convicted. Police received the reports on the dates shown.


Fraud: A woman living on College Avenue sent $10,000 in cash via Fed Ex to someone claiming to be her granddaughter and saying she needed the money to get out of jail. A conversation with her actual granddaughter a couple of weeks later proved the incident to have been a scam. June 15.

Residential burglaries: Thieves got away with three bikes stolen from apartment parking areas on Evelyn Street, Merrill Street and the 1600 block of El Camino Real. Estimated losses: $750, $600 and $400. June 13 and 16.


■ Someone stole a bicycle from an apartment carport on Roble Avenue. Estimated loss: $1,100. June 13.

■ Someone stole a bicycle from an apartment carport on Evelyn Street. Estimated loss: $399. June 11.

■ Two child-sized bicycles were stolen from an apartment complex carport on Live Oak Avenue. Estimated loss: $350. June 10.

■ Police found no signs of forced entry in a case of theft of a laptop and a tablet computer from a vehicle parked on Laurel Street. Estimated loss: $1,700. June 13.

■ A laptop computer was stolen from an unlocked vehicle parked at Laurel Street and Burgess Drive. Estimated loss: $1,000. June 16.

■ A man left a pair of sunglasses on the counter at a UPS center on Adams Court in the Willows neighborhood and found the glasses gone when he returned to retrieve them. Estimated loss: $300. June 16.

■ Two women allegedly stole several packs of nasal spray from the CVS pharmacy at 700 El Camino Real. The women fled the scene in a late model blue Mazda SUV. Estimated loss: $386. June 14.

■ A man allegedly walked into Beverages and More (BevMo) and walked out with a bottle of Jameson Irish Whiskey that he hadn't paid for. Estimated loss: $30. June 13.

Auto burglary: Someone broke into a locked vehicle parked on Monte Rosa Drive by means unknown and stole the registration and insurance cards. June 16.

Traffic accident: As she was making a left turn from Coleman Avenue while traveling north, a woman driving a silver Subaru collided with a man on a bicycle heading south on Coleman. The cyclist said he would seek medical treatment on his own for non-life-threatening minor injuries. June 15.



Residential burglary: A resident of Somerset Place told deputies that someone had entered his guest house by prying off a screen from a window and had rummaged through the house without taking anything. June 5.



Theft: Someone stole a fender and screws from a stereo system amplifier of a vehicle parked at Perry Lane and Vine Street. June 1.
