One Woodside High senior, three seniors from Menlo-Atherton High, and three from Menlo School were among the 7,500 recipients nationwide of 2016 National Merit scholarships, a combined value of about $33 million, according to the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.

The recipients with connections to the local area are:

■ Alec H. Mullen, a resident of Emerald Hills in Woodside and a graduate of Woodside High with a career interest in academia, received a $2,500 scholarship from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.

■ Kasey S. Love, a resident of Menlo Park and an M-A graduate with a career interest in computer science, received a National Merit scholarship from General Dynamics corporation.

■ Matthew S. Kenney, a resident of Menlo Park and an M-A graduate with a career interest in writing, received a $2,500 scholarship from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.

■ Jeffrey S. Propp, a resident of Menlo Park and an M-A graduate who is undecided about a career, received a $2,500 scholarship from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.

■ Shannon Shih, a resident of Mountain View and a graduate of Menlo School with a career interest in computer science, received a National Merit scholarship from Siemens corporation.

■ Annie Kim, a resident of Los Altos and a Menlo School graduate with an interest in a career in medicine, received a $2,500 scholarship from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.

■ Andrew C. Parker, a resident of Menlo Park and a Menlo School graduate with an interest in a law career, received a $2,500 scholarship from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.
