Jamillah Moore, currently the interim vice chancellor of educational services and planning for the San Mateo County Community College District, has been named the new president of Canada Community College in Woodside following what board President Dave Mandelkern called "a nationwide search" for candidates.
The board acted on June 8, and the vote for Ms. Moore was unanimous, a district spokesperson said.

"We believe President-elect Moore will continue Canada's strong tradition of providing leading-edge educational opportunities and support services that help ensure student success," Mr. Mandelkern said in a statement.
Ms. Moore has a bachelor's degree in communications and a master's in intercultural communication and public policy from California State University in Sacramento. She has a doctorate in international and multicultural education from the University of San Francisco.
She began her career as a community college teacher, occasionally teaches at her alma mater in Sacramento, and has held executive positions at community colleges throughout the state.
