Saturday: Where to celebrate Harry Potter book release

The boy who lived is making a comeback. On Saturday night, July 30, Kepler's Books, the Stanford bookstore, and the Palo Alto and Mountain View locations of Books Inc. will host Harry Potter-themed book release parties to celebrate the midnight release of the script of "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child: Parts One and Two."

The script is of a play by Jack Thorne and John Tiffany based on an original story by J.K. Rowling. The live production is set to debut in London the same day. It reportedly tells the eighth story in the Harry Potter series, set 19 years later.

Kepler's, at 1010 El Camino Real in Menlo Park, is hosting a party from 10 p.m. to midnight with themed crafts, games and trivia. Costumes are encouraged. Admission is $34.82 (with service charge) for a copy of the book plus two adults.

Go to the ticket webpage for more information.

At the Stanford bookstore, a midnight release party will begin at 11 p.m. and will feature crafts, snacks and giveaways.

At Books Inc. in Palo Alto, activities will run all day, and in Mountain View, events begin at 11 p.m.
