Lewis and Wiest are unopposed for seats on Atherton City Council

City Council will decide whether to hold election or appoint the candidates

Incumbents Elizabeth Lewis and Cary Wiest are the only candidates for two open seats on the Atherton City Council, City Clerk Theresa DellaSanta has announced.

The City Council will meet during the week of Aug. 22, Ms. DellaSanta said, to decide whether to hold the election or appoint the candidates to the seats. The exact date and time of the meeting has not yet been set, Ms. DellaSanta said.

If an election is held, write-in candidates could register to run. In 2015, a write-in candidate won an election for the Woodside Town Council.

Ms. Lewis, Atherton's current mayor, has served two terms and Mr. Wiest has served one term.
