Today: Look for traffic conditions to change as students return to class

Morning and afternoon traffic conditions will be subject to seasonal change starting Wednesday, Aug. 17, as the school year gets underway at Menlo-Atherton High School (at 555 Middlefield Road in Atherton), and Woodside High School (at 199 Churchill Ave. in unincorporated Woodside).

First period at M-A begins at 8:45 a.m., while at Woodside, the first period starts at 8 a.m., according to the bell schedules for both schools.

Around Woodside High, the arterials affected include Alameda de las Pulgas and Woodside Road.

For M-A, traffic could be affected on Ravenswood and Oak Grove avenues, Middlefield Road and Ringwood Avenue.

• Las Lomitas School District schools (La Entrada on Sharon Road and Las Lomitas on Alameda de las Pulgas at Camino al Lago) open on Thursday, Aug. 18.

I often take Alameda to get to Palo Alto, and notice the shabby state of weeds growing on the center divide of Alameda by Woodside High School. Some are over 2' high. What does this tell the students about how they are welcomed back to school? Not very cared about or respected, I think.
