Danielle Robinson and Brittany Squarcia each recorded a goal and an assist to help the Menlo College women's soccer team open its season with a 4-3 victory over visiting College of Idaho on Saturday in a nonconference match.
The Oaks, who host Carroll College on Thursday as part of the Menlo tournament, overcame an early 2-0 deficit to tie the game by halftime, and then fell behind again early in the second half.
Robinson scored the tying goal and assisted Nina Lee on the game-winner. Danielle McCarthy also scored for Menlo.
McCarthy scored the first Menlo in the 19th minute. Squarcia passed to McCarthy, who was in front of the net and snuck into the net.
Squarcia evened the score nine minutes later, attacking from the back and carrying the ball upfield. She beat the Yotes goalkeeper for the equalizier.
After Idaho regained the lead, the Oaks went to work. Rachel McClosky, a force in the middle all day, created many chances for the Oaks, including getting the ball to Alexis Von Schottenstein, who crossed to the center, where Robinson picked it up and finished with her left foot.
Ryan Onizuka netted a pair of goals and freshman Noah Aini recorded his first career collegiate goal to help Menlo top visiting Willamette, 3-0, in a nonconference affair Saturday morning.
Alex Coates-McDowall needed to make one save as the Oaks (2-0) are off to their best start since the 2013 team opened 4-0-2.
Luis Nunez added a pair of assists and Jonny Ensch and Noa Kerr combined to assist on the final goal.
Menlo travels to play UC Merced at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
