A two-alarm fire at a Redwood City bar this morning resulted in the closure of El Camino Real in both directions between Broadway and Brewster Avenue at around 5 a.m.

Redwood City police reported shortly after 7 a.m. that El Camino had reopened and that normal traffic had resumed between Broadway and Brewster.

The fire, which started around 4:30 a.m. at a structure attached to the rear of Sodini’s bar, located in a one-story strip mall at 727 El Camino Real, has been extinguished, firefighters said.

The fire got into the interior of the business, but remained mostly contained to the back of the building, firefighters said.

Several businesses are immediately adjacent to Sodini’s, but the fire remained within the building of origin. The cause is still under investigation.
