Monday: Civic center's 'green' features subject of Atherton meeting

How to prioritize energy and water-saving features in the plans for a new Atherton civic center and library will be on the agenda Monday, Dec. 5, when Atherton's City Council holds a special joint meeting with its Civic Center Advisory Committee.

The 6 p.m. joint meeting will be preceded by the advisory committee's regular monthly meeting, which starts at 4 p.m. with an open forum, followed by the regular meeting at 4:30. Both will be in the town's council chambers at 94 Ashfield Road.

The advisory committee will be looking at the civic center's landscaping plans during its regular meeting. The town is nearing approval of the final design for the civic center, which will allow WRNS Studio architects to begin working on drawings in the new year.

The council's regular monthly meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 7, and the council has also scheduled a joint meeting with the board of the Menlo Park Fire Protection District for Tuesday, Dec. 13.
