Sheriff's deputies arrested two men on Ramoso Road in Portola Valley in the early morning hours of Tuesday, Dec. 20. The men were booked into San Mateo County jail on charges that include prowling and possession of stolen property and burglary tools, deputies said.
The suspects – Nathan Hubbard, 22, of Aptos, and Isaiah Magee, 22, of East Palo Alto – are being held on bail of $10,000 each.
Deputies said they arrived at Shoshone Place in the Westridge neighborhood at about 2:20 a.m. on Dec. 20 after receiving a report of two prowlers wearing dark clothing and gloves and with masks over their faces. The descriptions were taken from a photo by a home surveillance camera, deputies said.
After setting up a perimeter and searching for about 90 minutes, two men were found "hiding" in a vehicle parked on Ramoso Road, deputies said. An investigation on the scene turned up property stolen from another location, deputies said.
Deputies ask anyone with information about this incident to contact Detective Jonathan Sebring at (650) 363-4057 or jsebring@smcgov.org. Call 800-547-2700 to give an anonymous tip.
The Sheriff's Office extended its appreciation to the caller, who saw something and said something. "Without the call, apprehension would have been difficult," Detective Salvador Zuno said.
