Holiday hours are in effect for local government, meaning extended closures for administrative offices in Menlo Park, Atherton, Portola Valley and Woodside. School district offices are also closed and students are on winter break.
Public libraries will close around Christmas and New Year’s Day, but will otherwise be open on a normal schedule.
Atherton
City Hall in Atherton closes at noon Friday, Dec. 23; it will reopen at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 3.
The Atherton Library will be closed Sunday and Monday, Dec. 25 and 26, and Sunday and Monday, Jan. 1 and 2, reopening at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 3.
Menlo Park
City Hall in Menlo Park closed Thursday, Dec. 22, and will reopen at 8 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 2. City staff is working on what is a holiday for other communities because they work a four-day week every other week, with Fridays off. The rotation for 2017 begins with a day off on Friday, Jan 6.
Both the Menlo Park Main Library and the Belle Haven branch will be closed Saturday, Sunday and Monday, Dec. 24, 25 and 26, as well as Sunday and Monday, Jan. 1 and 2.
Portola Valley
Town Hall in Portola Valley closed Thursday, Dec. 22, and will reopen at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 3.
The Portola Valley public library will be closed Sunday and Monday, Dec. 25 and 26, and Sunday and Monday, Jan. 1 and 2, reopening at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 3.
Woodside
Town Hall in Woodside closed Thursday, Dec. 22, and will reopen at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 3.
The Woodside public library will be closed Sunday and Monday, Dec. 25 and 26, and Sunday and Monday, Jan. 1 and 2, reopening at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 3.
School districts
The administrative offices for the Woodside, Menlo Park, and Las Lomitas elementary school districts closed Thursday, Dec. 22, and the offices of the Portola Valley elementary district closed a day earlier. All districts except Menlo Park resume classes on Monday, Jan. 9. Menlo Park students go back to school on Tuesday, Jan. 10.
In the Sequoia Union High School District, administrative offices close Friday, Dec. 23, and will reopen for staff on Friday, Jan. 9. Classes resume Thursday, Jan. 12.
